David Sole OBE
Qualifications & Professional Memberships
David won 44 caps for Scotland and 3 caps for the British & Irish Lions. He captained Scotland 25 times, leading them to the 1990 Grand Slam and the Semi Final of the Rugby World Cup in 1991. He was awarded the OBE for Services to Rugby Football in 1993.
David spent 11 years working for United Distillers and Diageo, latterly in an international role in Global Operations.
He has worked as an Executive Coach since 2001, firstly at the Change Partnership and more recently in his own business. He has clients across a wide variety of sectors in the FTSE as well as private equity and family businesses and has a track record of growing B2B businesses. He has extensive experience of working with Boards both as an Executive Coach and also as a facilitator.
In 2011 he co-founded the School for CEOs and in 2015 co-authored “21st Century Networking – How to become a Natural Networker”
David has Chaired committees of the Prince’s Trust Action and the Board of Governors of Cargilfield School. He was appointed to be one of the first external trustees of the HBOS Foundation. He was a Board Member of sportscotland for eight years, Chairing the Remuneration Committee and serving on the Audit Committee. He was also a Board Member of Quality Meat Scotland and a Non-Executive Director of the Kilchoman Distillery Company.
In 2018 David joined the Board of Trustees at Worldwide Cancer Research.
